The Rafael Font de Mora Program For VIPs
When talent isn't enough anymore.
When talent isn't enough anymore.
Rafael has devoted his life to the development of tennis players and to the advancement of the sport itself. Throughout his career and training methodology, he partnered with José Higueras to co-found the ITUSA Tennis Academy in March 1990, while also establishing the ITUSA Adidas Pro Team independently. Numerous world-class players have benefited from these training programs, including Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Ana Ivanovic, Dinara Safina, Meghann Shaughnessy, Anna-Lena Grönefeld, Peyton Stearns, and Brandon Nakashima, among many others.
Welcome to the iTUSA Pathway
Before you apply
YOU AREN'T MAKING THE PROGRESS YOU SHUOLD BE MAKING.
Every serious career reaches a plateau that doesn’t bend to harder work. It’s the stage where the technique that carried you until now starts to leak under match pressure. Where one weak stroke decides matches you should be winning. Where your current coach is excellent, but you both know the next step is outside their lane. This isn’t a motivation problem. It’s a methodology problem. And it’s the problem this program exists to solve.
The serve that stops holding under match pressure.
You can feel the mechanics break when the score tightens. Your second serve has become the shot your opponents target. No amount of practice is fixing it, because the fix isn’t in the practice.
The tactical reading that only tour experience can teach.
At this level, the difference between winning and losing a match often isn’t technique — it’s the pattern of decisions across a set. Which ball to attack. When to change pace. How to read the opponent’s preferences before they reveal them. That kind of reading is built inside a tour, across decades of matches at the highest level. It’s the layer this program adds to everything the player already has.
The feeling of being alone in a career that needs direction.
You’ve outgrown generic methodology. You need a long-term plan — technical, physical, mental, tactical — that someone with decades on tour can actually build. That person is rare. This program exists because one of those rare people runs it.
One coach THAT has guided others through this exact moment — for 40 years.
One coach THAT has guided others through this exact moment — for 40 years.
THOSE PLAYERS YOU'VE SEEN ON TV. BE A PART OF THEM.
Different eras. Different games. Different trajectories. One name in common between all of them, shaping their technique, their strategy, and their careers: Rafael Font de Mora. The methodology that took each of those players past their own wall is the methodology this program delivers. One-on-one. Supervised personally.
"Players do not need more noise. They need a path."
Every player in the list above had exceptional talent before they met Rafael. What changed wasn't the talent — it was the framework around it. The technical precision. The biomechanical detail. The long-term plan that connected today's drill to next year's match. That's what a coach with forty years on tour actually delivers, and what no online course, no weekly plan, and no generic pathway can replicate.

The program
Direct. Personal. Long-term.
The iTUSA VIP Program is not a course. It's not a training plan. It's a one-on-one commitment between Rafael and a very small number of players each season. The details of what each engagement looks like are built individually — shaped around the player's career stage, calendar, goals, and circumstances. But the core is always the same:
Direct coaching.
Rafael personally works with the player. Not a team member trained in his methodology. Not a second-tier coach delivering his system. Rafael himself — in sessions, in planning, in match preparation.
Long-term planning.
The program is structured around multi-month development cycles. Technical, physical, mental, and tactical work, sequenced in a plan that doesn’t improvise week to week. Careers aren’t built in weeks. They’re built across seasons.
Biomechanical precision.
Frame-by-frame analysis of every major stroke, delivered with the detail used on WTA and ATP players. Every grip, every step, every swing reviewed against a standard the player didn’t know existed until now.
Integration with the player's existing team.
Rafael works alongside the player’s current coach, fitness team, and family. He doesn’t replace the people around the player — he raises their ceiling by adding what’s been missing.

EVERY drill CATEGORIZED.
OUR SYSTEM picks it for you.
Most online tennis platforms hand you a library and let you wander. iTUSA works the opposite way. Every drill in The iTUSA Pathway has been classified across seven dimensions — what it trains, who it's for, in what context, at what intensity, with what success criteria — so that when your coach builds your plan, the right drill arrives at the right moment, in the right week, with the right outcome attached. You don't browse. The system decides what you need.
EVERY DRILL KNOWS YOUR LEVEL
The same exercise can be closed (fixed repetition), open (live with a partner), tactical (decision-based), or competitive (with score and pressure). The Pathway adapts the version of every drill to where you are now — and progresses it as you progress.
EVERY DRILL KNOWS WHERE IT FITS
Warm-up, technical block, tactical block, pressure block, match transfer. Each drill has a place inside a session, a week, and a development cycle. Nothing is random. Nothing is filler.
EVERY DRILL HAS A SUCCESS CRITERION
"Hit 7 out of 10 wide serves into the target zone." "Sustain a 20-ball crosscourt rally." Every drill has a measurable outcome — so you know whether you completed it, not whether it felt good.
EVERY DRILL CONNECTS TO THE NEXT
The Pathway doesn't deliver isolated exercises. Each drill is linked to its progression, its regression, and the drill that should follow. Today's session is the foundation of next week's. Real careers are built like this.
This program exists for a specific moment in your career.
The iTUSA VIP Program is not for every committed player — and not everyone who applies is accepted. It exists for players and families who meet a very specific profile, and who recognize themselves in the problem this page describes.
THE PLAYER
THIS IS THE PROGRAM FOR YOU IF
- You are competing at a serious national or international level — or are on a clear trajectory to get there
- Your current coaching setup has reached its limit, and everyone in the circle knows it
- You are ready for long-term, structured, methodical work — not quick fixes
- You and your family are prepared for a real commitment of time, planning, and trust
THE PROCESS
IF THESE DESCRIBE YOU, BEGIN YOUR JOURNEY
- Submit a detailed application with the player's competitive record, goals, and current situation
- Include recent videos of the main strokes from different angles and, if possible, match play
- Rafael personally reviews every application
- Accepted applicants are contacted directly to discuss the details of the engagement
Most applications are not accepted. That isn’t a marketing line — it’s a consequence of how the program is designed. Rafael works personally with a small number of players each season. The filter exists so the players who are accepted receive the full depth of his attention — which is what justifies the figure.
IF THESE CONDITIONS DON'T QUITE FIT, TRY CHECKING OUR PERSONALIZED PROGRAM
If this is the moment
Apply to the VIP Program.
The application form takes about 20 minutes and asks for the player's full competitive context, current coaching situation, and preliminary videos. Rafael reviews every submission personally. Response within 7 business days.
Not the right program for this stage?
If the player is serious and committed but not yet at the level this program requires, iTUSA's Personalized Program is the right path. Certified coaches trained in the same methodology, matched to the player's language, with continuous video review and long-term planning. Not the same as working directly with Rafael — but the closest thing.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS - FAQs
BEFORE YOU START
How much of my work is directly with Rafael?
All of it. The point of this program is access to Rafael personally — in session planning, in technical review, in match preparation, in long-term decisions about the player’s career. Other team members may be involved in logistics or specific support functions, but the coaching itself is Rafael’s work.
Does this program require moving to Spain, or traveling to La Sella?
No. Engagements are designed around the player’s current circumstances — which means the program can run remotely, on location at tournaments, or in combined formats depending on the career stage and logistics. Specifics are defined during the intake process with accepted applicants.
Why are there no testimonials or case studies on this page?
Because the players Rafael has worked with aren’t “case studies” — they’re names any serious tennis person already knows. Michael Chang, Pete Sampras, Jim Courier, Ana Ivanovic, Peyton Stearns. The work is visible in their careers, on tour, in Grand Slam records. If more context is useful, Rafael’s personal site collects additional material.
What does "most applications are not accepted" actually mean? Am I wasting my time?
It means the program has a finite capacity because Rafael works personally with each player. The application exists to identify players whose situation and goals genuinely fit what the program delivers. If the fit isn’t there, the answer comes with a direct recommendation — often toward the Personalized Program, which serves a slightly different stage of career. Applying isn’t wasted time either way.
What's the minimum duration of commitment?
One full quarter (three months) at the quarterly rate of 2.700€. Most engagements run longer because development at this level is measured across seasons, not weeks — but the commitment structure renews quarter by quarter, not as a long-term contract.
How is this different from the Personalized Program?
The Personalized Program delivers iTUSA’s methodology through a certified coach matched to your language, with weekly video review and monthly planning. It’s the right program for serious players who want one-on-one development. The Rafael Font de Mora Program delivers that same methodology through Rafael himself — with the added layers of tour experience, strategic planning at the level he applies to ATP/WTA players, and direct biomechanical precision. Different level of access. Different stage of career.
