- To learn to hold properly the EASTERN grip: place the racket perpendicular to the ground and shake hands with the racket
- Hold the racket with three fingers and feel the weight of the racket on your fingers before closing the grip with all the fingers
- Hold the racket firmly
- Leave a small space between the palm of your hand and the handle of the racket
- Think about maintaining a pressure level of about 7 out of 10
- Hold the racket by the dominant hand below the butt of the racket
- Check your grip regularly to maintain a consistent grip by checking it at the ready position and when you pivot and turn your shoulders
- Be sure the base knuckle of the index finger is on the bevel 3 or 4 (EASTERN grip)
