9 - Use of the non-hitting arm

  • Extend your non-hitting hand across your body parallel to the baseline at shoulder height for balance and to help you judge the approaching ball.
  • Keep your non-hitting hand in front of you until you contact the ball.
  • Your non-hitting hand retracts into your body, as your racket head contacts the ball.
  • Use the non-hitting hand to facilitate upper body rotation and to enhance a good center of balance by countering the racket arm.
