2 - Backswing/Loading

  • Prepare early.
  • “Screw down” into the court, knees bent, rotating the hips and coiling the entire body.
  • Pivot with their outside foot and transfer your weight into that foot.
  • Get the heel of your inside foot up.
  • Turn your shoulders sideways, initiating the turn with a smaller rotation of the hips.
  • DO NOT take your racket back with your arms but with the pivot and the shoulder turn together as ONE unit.
  • Keep both hands on the racket.
  • Lead your back swing with your elbow on the take back.
  • Keep your back swing in the same side of your body.
  • Keep your back swing relaxed and in front of you, as you turn your body.
