12 - Open Stance

  • Your inside and outside feet should form a line that is parallel with the baseline.
  • Fully turn your shoulders and position your weight to the outside leg before swinging forward.
  • The legs begin the motion by straightening as the hips rotate forward followed by the shoulder rotation into the shot.
  • The arm and the racket are the last components to be brought into the sequence of the swing.
  • The racket should swing around the non-hitting arm.
  • Finish your open-stance forehand on balance, pulling up into the follow-through.
  • Create centrifugal force in this “round stroke” by continuously and slowly “screwing down” into the back swing and “screwing up” into the hit and follow through.
